Santee Cooper to Close Two More Coal Facilities

South Carolinians can look forward to a healthier future as Santee Cooper announced intentions to close two of its oldest coal-fired power plants. Generating electricity from coal presents a host of environmental challenges including the release of toxins like mercury, gas emissions which undermine the stability of our climate, the production of hazardous coal ash, and mining techniques which level mountains in Appalachia.
