A public comment period is now open for a number of seismic permits, and we encourage you to take a moment and share your concerns about the impact of seismic testing with BOEM.

Permitting requests for seismic testing off the East Coast would:
- Result in undue harm to marine mammals, including the critically-endangered North Atlantic right whale;
- Fail to adequately protect sea turtles and would result in undue harm to these threatened and endangered species;
- Result in significant adverse impacts to South Carolina’s fisheries and fish habitat; and
- Result in long-range, cumulative impacts that includes potential oil and gas drilling, which threatens the sustainability of South Carolina’s coastal ecosystem and economy.
